Surprise! In addition to finding an apartment, Drew and I also purchased a Mercedes Benz Sprinter, that had been converted into an Adventure Van. While I was looking at apartment listings, Drew was searching for adventure vans. Priorities, right? We still need to name her. She's got a big booty, so Leah suggested Fanny, which I thought was funny, but apparently that has a bad connotation to countries who speak the Queens' English, so we figured we better go another direction. Anyone have any suggestions? The boys, Avery in particular, are head-over-heels. It's a 2017 diesel manual, so only Drew can drive it, for now. She's quite long, so we will not be doing any off-roading of any sort, but that's fine, Drew and I aren't off-roaders.
It has bench seating that will turn into a bed for the boys. We need to get seatbelts installed here for the boys, so it's not adventure ready quite yet.
It has a toilet and shower, which was a must for me if we were going to do any long journeys. My max without taking a shower is around 5 days. If any of you ever saw the 1995 Ford F-250 "Va Azul" we were driving around all summer, this is a major step up.
It has a king bed in the bed with a real mattress. Underneath the bed is a bunch of storage which can be accessed from the backdoors.
It has a cute kitchen with sink, fridge, range, and even an oven!
The boys can't wait to hit the road! Drew is thrilled that we found a gated place to park this puppy at our new apartment complex, so he can rest easy at night.
Immediately after this initial family tour of the Adventure Van, we went back to the Airbnb and Drew stabbed himself in the bottom segment of his left index finger with his pocket knife while trying to cut through a zip tie. He knew right away he needed stitches, so off to the ER we went after wrapping it up. We went to the best private hospital in all of Santiago. Granted we had to wait a bit, door to door was 3 hours, but a cut finger was probably pretty low on the ER totem pole. Drew ended up needing only 2 stitches, but it was certainly deep, as it reopened immediately after we took our home wrap job off. Luckily he didn't hit any ligaments. Any guesses on the cash price we paid for this? $130. Another healthcare victory in Santiago. The timing of this was priceless, as we were moving into our new apartment the next day. But, I'll give Drew credit, he hasn't complained about his finger once so far, and we are on the end of Day 2 of move-in weekend. Next blog will be of the new apartment!
